Completing the Journey of Flight 93
5 Core Riders, 8 Days, 40 Heroes
In 2009, Family & Friends of Louis Joseph Nacke II (Joey) will embark on an incredible mission to journey by motorcycle and deliver the extraordinary message of Remembrance, Patriotism, and Honor for the passengers and crew members of United Flight 93.
As kids, Joey, Patrick, David, Dale and I always set out on missions of adventure and discovery no matter where we were or how far apart we lived. We explored and experienced the many wonders of what was before us in the north and east of our country. All the while learning the strength and unity of being part of an extended family.
The desire for seeing what our country had to offer followed us as we entered adulthood. Being residents of the east coast, we always dreamed about traveling west together to see and experience everything our land has to offer. However on September 11, 2001 this dream vanished for us and Joey, along with the unfulfilled dreams of 39 others and their surviving families.
Riding for the Memorial
About the Flight 93 National Memorial
The development of the Flight 93 National Memorial has been, is, and will continue to be a partnership among the Families of Flight 93, the Flight 93 Federal Advisory Commission, the Flight 93 Memorial Task Force, the National Park Service, the National Park Foundation and many representatives of local, state and national organizations, agencies and interests, as well as people from around the world. This public/private partnership has been instrumental in all of the efforts leading to the creation of the Flight 93 National Memorial and in its planning to date.
Honoring Flight 93
About the National Campaign
The story of Flight 93 is one of the most extraordinary events of our time. Remembering the bravery and sacrifice of the 40 passengers and crewmembers requires an equally extraordinary memorial to pay permanent tribute to these heroes. The Campaign for the Flight 93 National Memorial, a national $30 million Capital Campaign, will ensure that the Memorial's grand design becomes a place for future generations to learn about Flight 93. To learn more about this important Campaign, watch a brief video presentation below.
The Flight 93 National Memorial Capital Campaign has been launched nationally and internationally, seeking to raise $30 million from philanthropic individuals, corporations and foundations to enable the construction of the Flight 93 National Memorial. Generous gifts ranging from the pennies of school children, to major commitments from corporations and foundations, have already helped to jump-start the campaign on a local, regional, and national level.
